When we talk about information products as a whole, we're really talking about perceived value. That's a concept that's critical to your success as a publisher. Remember, we're talking about information which is largely intangible. Any information is largely intangible in the sense that it's not a hard good like a car or boat or house. I've seen the same information sold for widely varying prices. How can this be? In large measure, it's because of the amount of perceived value that has been developed.
You're probably looking for some actual price point guidance. Fair enough, so here are some suggestions. Try testing the sale of your information product at the lowest price possible where you can still actually turn a profit. The reason for doing this is because it will allow you to really test the fundamentals of your offer. It's very rare that someone who has been enticed to purchase your product will refrain from doing so based on the fact that it's a low price. So odds are you'll make a sale. In contrast, someone who is unwilling to spend $10 to buy your latest eBook is unlikely to buy it for $50.
But how much can you really charge? Is there a ceiling? I've actually seen electronic books sell briskly at the $97 and even $197 price levels. That should give you a good indication that the sky is the limit.
